current research
My current research investigates the middle member of the Union Wash Formation, specifically where it is exposed in the Darwin Hills locale, in Owens Valley. Several objectives of the project include:

-
Establishing a more precise and definite lithologic description of the unit

-
Determining a more exact depositional environment --> basin or outer shelf to slope?

-
Coming up with a better understanding of paleoenvironmental condtions, specifically focusing on paleoxygenation
-
Understanding potential paleoceanographic sea level fluctuations based on sequence stratigraphy

-
Investigating and defining several unusual structural components within the sediment, including soft sediment deformation and the possible presence of seismites

about me
I am a geology MSc candidate at California State University, Fullerton. My primary interests are in sedimentology and stratigraphy. Currently, I am performing a sedimentologic study of Early Triassic paleoceanographic conditions (i.e. paleoxygenation and CO2-saturation) and their relationship to biotic recovery rates following the Permio-Triassic mass extinction event.
